Kye
Hello all. DOes anyone have an issue with wind whistle on the Mk2.5 around the drivers side mirror at all? Mine has it and it is leading to hearing damage from the stereo being turned up. . On a serious note, it is irritating and i'd like to know the cause and try and stop it. Cheers! SeanW
Yep...except mine is passenger side I'm pretty sure the plastic panel that clips around the wing mirror base plays a big part. I took it off, fettled with the clips a bit and put it back. Was quiet for a day or two lol
artscot79
On u tube there's a focus with a similar issue the fix was there was no sound deadening applied behind the panel which allegedly there should be personally i dont think that panel has anything to do with it i think its lack of a sound proofing panel behind the wing mirror base which ill be applying when i get the chance
Kye
I'll agree with you on that. Mine is a little bit loose. I'm going cover the gaps in tape and see if that helps sort it, deaden it.
TomsFocus
Nope, mines surprisingly quiet in that way! Only time I get noticeable wind noise is when theres a high cross wind like on a bridge. I have more of an issue with the arm rest creaking though haha.
troy45
There's no sound-proofing behind the trim panel on either side of my car, and in truth I think that's how Ford intended it to be (i.e. it's not missing) However there should be a thick foam gasket which fits onto the back of the mirror sail where it mates up to the door. You should be able to see the rear edge of it where the front edge of the door glass meets up to the mirror sail. May have relaxed over time and not making as good contact between the door panel and mirror sail, taping things up is good start to identifying where the noise is coming from. Also putting some thin foam around where the white clips for the trim panel locate into the door may help it sit more securely, just needs to be thin enough for the clips to still engage.
