Ebay Seller To Be Aware Of

Featured Replies

Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up of an eBay seller I'm having issues with. His user id is marioski80

Over a week ago I saw a listing on eBay for a fiesta he was breaking. I messaged him through it and he confirmed the price and availability of what I was after (£40). He said he would only take payment through bank transfer... this should, in hindsight, raised some alarm bells. I duly paid the money and he confirmed receipt in his bank. Since then its been nothing but lies and lies and lies: that's if he bothered to reply at all. He said he had sent it, would provide me tracking etc etc, but when questioning him I was met with silence. I have reported him to my banks fraud department and am seeking legal advice. I know its only £40...but its the principle here. I hate thieves and liars!

Did you report him though eBay, I know you paid via the bank but as a seller he has a duty to sell the stuff as it's a contract but I'm sure you know all that.

He would get a strike, 3 and off he goes apparently

I looked at their help pages but because I paid him, and it's a transaction outside of eBay they cant help. In a way its my own fault for paying by direct transfer. I've just rang him and he actually answered...he says he's got problems with his bank account and that's why he cant refund me...he asked for my paypal account and said he will pay be back via that tonight - mmmmmm....heard something similar before.

If he has paypal why did he use a bank transfer for payment?

Very dodgy indeed.

Yeah exactly. He still hasn't paid as of 19:28.

Looking at his current listings, he has loads of car parts showing but most of the cars listed for breaking look mint.

He also has no sellers feedback, only feedback for stuff bought which looks like general tat.

Did his original listing you bought through show paypal as preferred? If so by asking you to pay by transfer is against ebay selling rules.

I think we should all bombard ebay with listing complaints.

Yeah am sure it did. Just as it does now.

Sounds like he was trying to avoid paying ebay their cut.

They really don't like that at all.

Report that and see what they do then.

Yeah think that's worth a try actually...thanks

I personally think he's hoping I will give up chasing him for the "just" £40 if he keeps promising to pay for long enough. He really doesn't know me too well!! :D

I will take him to the small claims court next if need be.

Well it's half past midnight and the lying piece of scum hasn't paid me back. Reported him to eBay tonight and they've provided me links to report to the police and trading standards, and they will also investigate from their end. That's my morning planned!

So...he's actually refunded me this afternoon right out of the blue. I had just got off the phone with eBay too!

Still stuff him.

Too right. I've blocked him on eBay and will not let any of the people I've reported him too know he has finally refunded me after his 7 separate promises of doing it previously. He is being reported to trading standards too by an advice bureau I spoke too.

I'd be interested to know why he would only accept a bank transfer. Probably some poor excuse, anyone who uses eBay has access to Paypal.

Definitely trying to avoid giving ebay their cut.

Yeah must be. Have reported him to eBay but I don't suppose they will do anything about it.
