Switch For Traction Conrol

Featured Replies

Just took delivery of my new Zetec S Fiesta MK7.5 Am told that the S is fitted with the same wiring loom as the ST which as a factory fitted switch. Can anyone confirm that the loom and connector plug is behind the r/h blank plug on the dash of my S. Better still as anyone fitted the said plug which then enables you to turn traction conrol on and off as required.

Mick Grebo.

you can do this anyway via the menu........ (without a switch )

Yes i know that thanks but if its just a case of buying the switch it would be easier. Just need to know if the plug is behind the blank plate.

I've ordered an ESC switch last week. In my Titanium X is the wiring in place, and the switch lights up, but when you press the button nothing happens.

So I guess its a software issue. For now I'm not sure what the real problem is. Maybe somebody else can help.

There is a difference between the menu setting and the switch which comes with the ST. The switch can put the ESP in two different modes. One sport, and the other switches the ESP completely off.

Hi Harry

What was the part number please and did you find the loom/plug ok. Was it just behind the blank plug or did you have to dismantle further. How much was the switch please.

Mick G.

FINIS: 1778233

I paid 32 euro's over here in The Netherlands, so that would be somewhere around 26 pound.

My Fiesta has PDC at the front and the auto start/stop system, so there where already 2 buttons in my car.

The loom/connector should have 7 wires.

I guess you have a credit card holder over there, with a dashboard removal tool or small screwdriver you can push it out. It clicks on both sides behind the dashboard panel.

But than again, my abs pump/bcm/pcm doesn't recognize the switch. I don't know how to solve this problem. If you have more luck, please let me know :)

Maybe someone has a wiring diagram, or pin-out of the ABS pump. That would really help.

Thank you Harry will let you know how we go.

You'll probably have to get it activated with IDS at your Ford dealer.

The ESC switch project is on hold right now. My dealer provided me with the wiring diagram. As far as I can tell is the wiring in place in my Fiesta. My dealer told me that the ABS pump probably needs new software. To be specific, the software from a ST. The dealer could not tell me if it would work straight away and they charge 200 pound just to put the new software in. That is a bit too much for an experiment. So if someone else has more luck, please let me know :P

C2114= ESC switch connector

Put me a ESP switch and a PASS AIRBAG deacivate glove box key switch.

My switches ( its a block of 3 with 1 blank ) fits in the card holder and wire behind heater panel and ESP is just plug-and-play.

Air bag light to work and key to work needs to have it done at ford as air bag light stops on when connected.

You're absolutely right Jace1969, but you're referring to a Fiesta MK7. The TS (And I) talks about a Fiesta MK7,5. There is a huge difference between the two versions. That's why you need a software modification when you want a ESC switch in a MK7,5.

Sorry mate never knew that about the software update after fitting it.

Thread bump - has anyone been able

to activate the ESC switch in a Mk7.5?

Can someone explain why you would want to turn traction control off?

It can be a real hindrance in snow and ice but, perhaps more appropriate for the ST, turning it off gives you more control in terms of input and output so tends to be favoured on the track.

when my 1.0 was mapped it was a nightmare with traction control on. If I was driving it aggressively it would just spin through first second and third. Which I could control without loosing too much power. But the traction control just tied things down a little too much and slammed on the anchors. And when the brakes are bigger than the car expects you'll find yourself heading towards the windscreen 😂😂 haha. Especially after gearchanges

On the one day of snow we had when my car was standard it simply didn't want to move with traction control on. The same went for when I stupidly tried taking it off-road..
