Driver's Window Does Not Open/close

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I've already posted my question but I suspect I posted it to a wrong group, so I'll post it here as well.

For the past week or so the driver's window on my Focus convertible has been playing up and now it's completely given up the ghost and won't open/close.

1. Are all the windows driven by separate motors?

2. How can I establish whether it's the motor or the switch which is gone?

3. What sort of bill can I expect for the repairs?

All answers will be greatly appreciated.

like with a lot of problems, its best to start at the basics.

and that is check all the wires in the rubber gaitors to the door/s.

on a lot of cars the problem occurs when the wires fray/snap.

Thank you Greg. How would I know which wires to look for, or is it obvious?

if its not obvious then this is where a tester is needed.just because the outer cable/s look intact doesnt mean that the wires are.
