Hello From Worcestershire

Featured Replies

Hello all,

With the exception of about a year driving a Hillman Imp I've been a Ford driver ever since I passed my test, having had '82, '86, '90 Escorts (2nd hand) and an '00 Focus from new which I recently changed for a late 59 plate Mk 2.5.

I'm not really one for modifying so I'm here mainly to pick up hints and tips that might be useful.

Paul

Hi welcome :)

Lovely Foci! I wouldn't be able to cope with getting rid of a MK1, but at least your new one is red. ;)

Cheers!

It was quite a wrench really as I'd had the Mk I from new. The only major problem I'd had with it was down to one of the original fans seizing and causing the connector from the fan assembly to melt (this was about 5yrs ago) - end result was engine overheated when I was on my way to a meeting. AA "hot wired" the 2nd fan via an in-line fuse so that it was permanently on in order to get me home and I had fan assembly replaced with a single fan unit. Then I found out last year that the aircon compressor was leaking so the system would only stay charged for a while. Once empty it would mean the fan wouldn't come on!

I don't have the facilities/time/patience/know-how (delete as appropriate) to work on the car myself and I just figured it was time to change. Just before part-exed it it'd also developed a problem with intermittently stalling when coming to a standstill!

Bonus with the new one is that it has Bluetooth and rear park assist (which the dealer hadn't mentioned in details)! :)
