Heated Door Mirror

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just curious about the "heated door mirrors", how and when do these work??? Now its getting a bit frosty out in the mornings these days I am wondering how these work, are they automatically operated or do they heat up slightly when I put the heating on for the windscreen and rear screen???

Many thanks

James

Great cheers!

Sometimes the wires connection onto the back of the mirror because loose as the mirrors get adjusted of time.

Power is nothing without control .

For cars that have them on Ford's they activate when the quickclear windscreen is turned on, not the rear demister.

That's not correct for my MK3 Focus and my MK7 Fiesta

It comes on with the REAR demister.

Definitely with the REAR - as both the mirrors and back screen are for looking behind you.

OP: You're probably right - chances are that the mirror has been swapped at some point

both should be heated and they are ativated with the rear demister front windscreen activates heated washer jets sounds like someone replaced the glass after it was broken with a standard glass the wiring should be there unless the mirror was torn off ripping the wires

oops theres two mirror posts yes they are activated with the rear heated screen as always its best practice if youre using the heated screen at the front to do it only when needed and before you set off it draws so much power youll easily kill the battery do not as some have done drive with it on for the full length of time the front is linked directly to the heated washer jets

thanks for the replies ill check that thread out....without me starting a new thread, does anyone know when you squirt washer on the REAR windscreen if the wiper should automatically go...this was the case on my mk7 Fiesta, but doesn't seem to do it on my mk3 focus???

My rear wiper goes when I use the rear washer AFAIK.

Does the rear wiper work normally?

it works normally when I click the buttons on the end of the stick, it also goes when I put in reverse and have front wipers going....so I found it strange as to why the rear wiper didn't automatically go when I squirt washer down the screen. Work booking it in with fords?

Certainly with the Mk1 and Mk2.5 when you use the rear washer the wiper activates as well. Dunno if that's changed with the Mk3. Might be worth having it checked, just in case.
