What Causes Over Heating For The Ford Essex 3.0L V6 Engine

hi all ,

i own a1982 3.0l v6 ford cortina mk5 and i cant seem to solve the over heating problem and i need all the help ,i can get? :wacko:

    Hi Dave, your first item is to check that there is nothing blocking the flow of the water around the engine and radiator.

    Like a stuck thermostat?

    If your thermostat has not been changed since 1982, perhaps you can do it now, even if it is not the problem.

    If it is not the thermostat, do check the fan, is it the right size, is the fan belt tight, even at speed?

    How is the water pump?

    Could scales be blocking the radiator?

    Do flush the water system out, it is a good thing to do anyway.

    thanks for your quick response however the water pump and radiator are ok, i'm suspecting the valve timing or head bolts not tightend to the right specs?
