Attempting To Install A Usb Port On Dash..help!

Basically my new head unit comes with a usb cable that i can run anywhere i want problem is i want it next to the heated windscreen/rearscreen buttons and then fit esp button the other side.

Also the usb female fits perfectly into the gap on the back of the button now all i want to do is cut a hole so i can plug a memory stick etc in there the problem is i want it to look nice any ideas how? Was thinking dremel but might have to spray it after what do you lot think?

buy one that fits in there thats what i did just need to install new head unit.i found mine cheap on a site cant remember where

U can get surface mount version of metallica picture. I had a twin port done on my headunit. Make sure u check on headunit my Usb port could pull 2500ma. Most ports are 500ma.

Looks like hes just used a panel mount for it going to try with masking tape some silver paint and dremel its the only way im getting it done the way i want lol....Dam thought my mrs was fussy :)

Have you considered purchasing a usb and 3.5mm aux port that replaces a 12v socket

Ive purchased one to fit inside the armrest,

This way the audo device is hidden inside the armrest console out of sight no wires visible,

If the AUX input on headunit is RCA like mine see this:

then you need something like i put up just fix to the back of blanking cover and cut a slot in the front

Took a drill to it earlier will post more pics when im done....early progress doesnt look good but if i F it up ill order one of those other ones from china need a file and sand paper to tidy it up before i paint it wish me luck :blink:

Id say if you mark it out

Drill three holes inside the marked rectangle,

Then file out the rest of it shoul( be fine,

Look forward to seeing the results
