Incompetent Uk

Just wanted to share this,

Currently out in the Arctic Circle, the airport as you can see was frozen over and the entire area is frozen tundra, still life goes on, no one has called in sick and cars are driving about.

For the once most powerful nation in the world, the UK is quite a retarded place when you think about it, full of helpless spazzes.

Sadly too accurate!

We just dont know as a country how to deal with weather as it doesnt come along often enough to get used to it.

Thing that got me is the plane landed in Ivalo on the ice and took off again without issue, why Heathrow has to close is beyond me.

The pilots up there are better trained. I watched ice pilots on discovery and saw how good they are, but the UK and day to day pilots and planes are just not experienced or suited to that environment.

Did you fly the douglas dc3 in?

I think part of the problem is that we tend to have more mild winters (like last years garbage) than cold winters and as such when it snows, we are like WTF is this white stuff?! OMG its snow! We're doomed! (see Daily Express and the clown James Madden)

Winter tyres fitted to all vehicles would at least bring an end to the vast majority of cars stuck on snow with wheels spinning but its not cold enough here to justify the enforcement of mandatory winter tyre fitment. Also, even if it was, the same thick tw**s who can't drive to the conditions now, would just think they are indestructible on winter tyres and end up crashing anyway.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people on normal tyres expect to drive up to a junction, brake and expect to stop. Off they slide...

Then there's the health and safety brigade. You can't f*rt near a photocopier at work now without a risk assessment and HSE staff being deployed with chernobyl style radiation suits. (Mind you, if I've had a Vindaloo the night before I can't blame them.)

People don't allow extra time either. I even get up a little earlier when there's a frost just so I've got plenty of time to de-ice, de-mist and drive safely. Unlike the prats who just clear a peep hole.

GGGRRR!

I feel your pain there Dave its much the same here in Ireland the roads seem to be deserted even if its a regular week and the time of the morning you would expect the regular back ups but no there would be 3 to 4 cars sitting there waiting for what i dont know maybe for the sun to magically come out and melt the snow.

I don't get winter tires myself yeah i have had an accident cause of the ice going round a down hill corner at 50km/ph and then i made the mistake of tapping the break to hard now i learned to use the gears more than the brakes. Since I have been using the gears to brake I have been ok I leave a half hour earlier than i need to if im going to work. Then on the way home i take it nice and easy and if theres a muppet behind me id pull as far in so he can go by and not crash into the back of me.

According to the psychic Ireland uses for its weather for winter we are expecting the worst snow fall this year worse than 2010. I will believe it when i see it though hes known for getting a few things wrong but typical Ireland they'd rather listen to him that way they wont take the blame if its wrong. I expect dublin airport might do the same and close or atleast they might be smart this year and grit early.

heres an exciting thing about a company in sligo or mayo that makes gritting trucks with plows on the front of them guess what there all exported so when the snow comes here we have just the regular gritters with no plow on the front so the farmers in local areas use there tractors to plow the streets

I still recommend to anyone who doesn't have winter tyres to keep a few things in the boot, tyre socks, shovel, ice salt, traction grips (if no socks available) and the combination should help. As of yet I haven't needed any, but they are good when they are needed I'm sure

Exactly, and it's just too expensive to be fully prepared like the countries that deal with heavy snow every winter.

We should use Top Gear's idea and fit snow ploughs to combine harvesters, and a flamethrower of course to melt the ice lol.
