Hello From Ireland

Featured Replies

Hi there guys

George here in central Ireland. Ive a 2000 mk1 focus 1.6 Zetec in gold and i love it to bits. Its my get me to work vehicle. But i must admit ive become quite smitten with it. I have it a year now and no troubles. It passed its NCT (Irish version of the MOT) no trouble last time with no work. Im a petrol head and do all my own running repairs. I just ordered new discs and pads for it and rear shoes too. One of the discs was warped. Shes due in for the test again in February and i want to have her tip top, Theres a few issues i need to fix, if anybody can post links to threads

Central locking is a bit mental. Sometimes it works fine sometimes not, or all the doors will open a mile or two down the road.

Can i get a remote fob? i just have the one key, but i got the car from my brother in law and i must ask him has he spare keys for it.can i add a remote to it?

Boot release button does not work

re-circulation button for the heater does not work

can i convert the mirrors from manual to electric? is it plug and play? are the wires and plugs in the loom for it??

can i change the wiper stalk for the 6 position Ghia one, or do i need to change the wiper motor as well.

if anyone can advise me on any of the above that would be great.

My background is ive been motor mad since i could walk. Sent my teens and twenty's playing with big fast motorbikes. Almost 40 now and bikes dont have the same appeal to me anymore. I love electronics and I collect and modify vintage CB radios. If you search my username on YouTube, you'll find my channel. Ive made up my own LED number plate lights and converted my interior light to LED as well and added LED illumination to the driver and passenger footwells. I plan to convert all the dash lighting and electric window swithes to LEDs as well. I hope this is an active forum ,as i joined a few and found nothing was going on. Anyway thats enough for now. Ill be back real soon. Ive attached a few pictures of my motor, I call her 'The golden arrow' Well, the boys at work christened her that...lol

George

Thanks for the Reply, I hope so. The central locking thing is driving me mental. Well she has all new brakes now. Couple of hours today and i replaced the discs and pads and the rear shoes too. seen a couple of ropey looking bushings in the back of it. It must have had a few bob spent on it before i got it, all the droplinks were done trackrod ends etc.

Welcome to the forum from Wexford :)

Ill read post later and comment

Hi Lenny

I tried the WD40 thing as per the link i posted. within three seconds of squirting it into the drivers door latch through the bottom hole and all the locks popped open. Done all the rest of them while i was at it. Hopefully it will work until I get some decent weather/time to pull and clean all the door locks. Well happy.
