Mk7.5 Fiesta Door Card Removal...

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm a new member and I know it is bad form to join and ask for help straight away but I am desperate! I've found an excellent guide to removing the door card of a MK7 but I just keep drawing a blank with the MK7.5. I've damaged the drivers side door mirror on a 2013 5 door and I need to remove the door card to access where the mirror connects to the loom to replace the mirror itself.

I've found the Torx bolt behind the small cap under the door release handle and the bolt behind the red reflector at the lower right of the door but I just can't get the door card to come away. What am I missing?! I have various trim tools etc. and the replacement mirror itself I just can't get access to do the job.

Please can anyone help?

Really appreciated.

Hi, just in case this thread appears in a future search for someone with the same problem I've sorted the method out, had it all apart, and back together again(!).

Took me a little while to work it out but I focused on the interior door handle area as that seemed to be key in removing the door card in a MK7. So to remove the door card:

Remove screw cap inside interior release recess and remove exposed Torx screw.

Carefully prise away red reflector lense at leading edge and remove 10mm bolt

Now focus on door handle area. VERY carefully prise away (in my case) piano black trim around switches and mirror control. I started at the end nearest the handle NOT the mirror control and with a flat blade and patience it releases.

Remove plastic covering the area underneath the handle (where your finger nails would point if your hand was wrapped round the handle!). This comes away easily once the piano black (or similar) is removed.

You've now exposed two larger Torx bolts that secure the switches etc to the door card. Remove these and the switches are loose, disconnect and set to one side.

The door card should now be very loose and it's a case of using your fingers or a trim tool to "pop" the white stud fittings around the bottom edge and top left and right corners of the door. Once you have once loose the others come easy. If your finding you need a lot of force STOP and check previous steps.

The door card is now just hanging by its top edge and can be lifted up and away.

I didn't need to go any further as you can now access the mirror wiring for replacement. I just used a bungie cord to secure the card over to one side whilst I worked as the card is still very much connected to the car!

One mistake I did make was pulling the old mirror out immediately it was disconnected. I would recommend taping an old shoe lace to the old connector so that as you withdraw it you're left with a draw cord to guide the replacement. I had to go fishing with some lighting wire and actually ended up with the mirror wire obstructing the movement of the window glass and had to reroute it. This could have been avoided if I'd used a draw cord.

All in all it would take me about 30 minutes to replace another mirror knowing what I know now. The mirror itself was about £80.00+VAT from local Ford Dealer. They gave me 10% off and they were already cheaper than most of the internet suppliers and I got it the same day. I salvaged the painted cap from the old mirror as it was undamaged.

Hope this helps someone.

No. Door card on a Mk7.5 is entirely different to the Mk7 in that video sadly.
