Pros And Cons Of Exhaust Trim

Featured Replies

I was after opinions on the pros and cons of exhaust trims, ie the trims used to make a standard exhaust look more 'sporty'. I've already been and bought a twin exhaust trim for my new car as I think it'd suit the body kit / dress up kit optioned on the car already.

Pros as far as I can see is:

better looking

Standard exhaust so no f@rty noises

Compliment dress up kit for an overall cleaner look

Cons:

Some trims are prone to rust (mines SS so I hope it won't)

Attracts 'boy racers'

Some exhaust pipes may need to be trimmed to fit

Can you add anymore pros and cons (iyo)?

Is it one of those clamp/bolt on things?

If so make sure you get a VERY good fit when you install it or it will be rattling around everywhere

(I know from experience)

Yes it is :d

I was going to get the techs at ford to fit it for me before I collect the car as well as do some other little mods for me ;)

Had one on my Astra (not added by myself :P) and it rusted and eventually fell of whilst i was driving. Heard a loud noise and did realise till a few days later it had gone ^_^

Mines stainless steel. :)

Downside with the twin pipes is they are a pain to clean. If you wash the car with a sponge it is difficult to get between the 2 pipes and you really need a cloth for it.

If you go to a car wash it will be filthy within weeks between the pipes as they wont take the time to clean between the pipes.

I had these exhaust tips on my bmw`s and they do foul up between the pipes fairly quickly.
