Will We See 99.9P Per Litre Again?

Featured Replies

Going by this email I just received, I wouldn't be surprised!

When prices went up to over 130.9p per litre last year I thought it could only go up, or at best stay where it was. Never would I have imagined it going below 110p!

Who knows, driving may even become affordable again.

105.7ppl for the cheapest Petrol in Grimsby at the moment!

The cheapest around here is 106.9 in tescos Cheltenham at the moment, my favourite local shell is still 111.9 for standard fuel

£1.05 in Portsmouth today.

Filled up the Focus from 'very low' and it cut out at £48.

Ah well, lol.

I dare say it will not be long anyhow...

I think that the oil barrel price will have to drop a tad more before we see 99.9, but a supermarket may just do it to draw the punters in.

If we do see sub £1 a litre I doubt it will be for long, I think by Feb-March it will start to creep back up again.

Knowing what we are prepared to pay (or have to pay), with prices hitting nearly £1.40 a while back,

I'm sure they will all come together to create a situation that "Requires an Increase In Fuel Costs",

All they have to do is turn a few taps off to narrow the supply and demand chain, pushing prices up.

Absolutely, the government will have a hand in it I reckon - too much lost revenue so they will force it back up again knowing we previously put up with paying £1.40+ per litre.

I honestly couldn't say how much it is in my area at the moment.

But it wont last long anyway.

The government letting fuel prices drop is like a hostage taker putting their gun down. It is good news for now, but they have the power to turn it back around again in a second.

I think everybody is right to assume they will. There is nothing in it for the government or retailers to keep the prices low, but that said I hope it stays down for long enough to get a few tanks of petrol and at least see some benefit from the - albeit brief - reprieve.

The bottom line is though, even if it went up to £2 per litre, we'd probably still pay it - because lets face it, we don't have a choice!

You are probably right Jamie. no matter how much we get charged at the pumps we will just keep on paying.

All the government partys always promise the earth come election time, especially the motorist saying they will cut fuel prices.

Whats the best they do ?. tell us there wont be a rise in fuel duty. Are we suppose to think they are Gods for freezing fuel dutys.

They have the motorist by the nuts no matter what.

Look at what the French and other Countrys do when it happens to them. They bring their Country to a standstill.

We just take it on the chin.

Fuel prices are bad enough for you guys up North as it is.

The gov't do want fuel prices to stay low, if more people can afford to drive more it helps the economy, which outweighs the small amount they lose in fuel tax.

I don't think it'll drop to 99p a litre again - but I wont complain if it does!

Best case scenario, yes it does, but I dont see it lasting long at all!
