Audio Unit Help Please (New Owner)

Featured Replies

I've just purchased a 2009 Fiesta (earlier today!) but am slightly concerned the audio unit could be faulty and could do with some advice before I start ranting to the Ford dealer.

I guess the main problem is the volume control works sometimes but not others. Is there some sort of 'volume lock' that could be controlling this? The on/off button works ok but the volume level doesn't adjust with the knob or steering wheel control. I've done a quick video to show you what I mean here:

Also, I've noticed that if I play my music loud (full volume) from either a CD or iPod the volume and bass levels are all over the place... almost as if there must surly be a loose wire somewhere. But if I have the radio on at full volume the sound is ok. I have Adaptive Volume switched off so I know it's not that.

THANKS

One question,

Does the stereo have Bluetooth and usb?

Yes, Bluetooth and USB

Awesome. Do you know the part numbers by any chance?

Where would I find the part numbers?

Also, whilst you're there.. do you know if I'm going to be able to modify the sound system in any way by adding an amp, subwoofer and better speakers?

Thanks

Well to do that with your current stereo you need to add a lead.

I'm not sure on how much watts does the stereo take, but you can definitely add some amp and sub.

All you gotta do is connect it to your existing lead points and sound.

I think to find the part number you need to take it off. So scratch that I'll find it somewhere ! I thought maybe you would have known.

Oh and to fix the problem with volume, take out the fascia of the stereo by simply prying it out and check for any dirt, or loose contact. Clean the button and connector with air if possible.

See link on how to remove it properly
