We Buy Any Car

Featured Replies

Ok we should be selling my husbands old car with this company today, found the v5c and current mot, is there anything else we need to bear in mind? I know they're out to rip you off but the car is either them or scrap tbh - we've had enough of it taking up much needed car parking space outside, and neither of us have time for private advertising either

nah you just need the V5 as per any standard sale. MOT adds strength, to be honest, prepare yourself to leave with 50% of the offered price!

If it's a REAL no hoper, your local fire brigade would probably love to have it to train folks on how to rescue people from car crashes.

;)

What are they offering for it? they are a right old bunch of rip off merchants..

A guy i work with just sold his car on gumtree after telling me he was going to scrap it for £120 because it was a shed. I told him to fire it on gumtree and chance his luck for free. Sure enough he listed it for £400 and it sold the same day. so maybe worth a shot?

I wasn't going get more than £200 for my old Escort, so I scraped it for £129 just to get rid,

Scrap Yard was around the corner from Car Dealer, drove away in Focus 30min later.

If you're looking for over £300 I'd try selling it, if it's riddled with problems then might not be worth the hassle.

Well we got back 50% of what was offered on the site, but more than we'd have made scrap value for the car. Unfortunately neither of us with our respective work arrangements have time to be selling privately, it's been sitting outside since last May untouched (we had to get it a new battery), at least this way we're shot of it, it's been a good old work horse, but it's days were long since over: done 125,000 miles, was 10 yrs old, had rattlely engine, massive costs on ved, tyres and the rest of it. Neither my husband or I needed it so it was just sat there clogging up space

Told you lol, this is how they win, quote one thing then claim because the car isn't showroom condition....

At least you got money back for it.

I thought they had already been warned of bait and switch tactics.

Clearly didn't work.

They get away with it because they start with you describing the vehicle and give you a book price, buy when they inspect it and find the scratches, wear and tear etc, they just push on they can't pay the full price and so can I lay pay up to this.

Anyway, might keep an eye on auto trader, what's the cars reg model etc?

It was a knackered old black Kia Sedona la55 kyg, smothered in stone chips, had a little dent here and there, list is endless really, surprised we got what we did for it tbh  will keep an eye on Autotrader see if they can't sell it on

It will probably end up at Copart or such like, my old Renault Scenic did that i sold to them.

They quoted me just under a grand for my mk2 focus ghia. Its easily worth 1800-2000 at least. God knows what theyd then knock it down to on inspection. Probably say theyd give me 200quid for it. The new clutch its just had cost twice that. Or better yet theyed want me to pay them to take it away.

Also got a quote on my new car. Said theyd give me 5grand for it. Its worth 8 and a half

I used them to sell my last Fiesta and was more or less happy with the service. Got £5750 for it after they knocked off £90 for a few stone chips on the bumper and £25 for a "fast payment" (which was actually very slow). The only thing that really annoyed me was the guy said "this is the best Fiesta we've had here" and later says we need to knock off £90 because the bumper needs respraying. I suppose I should expect this kind of thing, tried to haggle over it but he gave me the usual nonsense that he could get in trouble, or that he has to put it on the system etc.

Overall it wasn't too bad, it gave me an easy way to sell the car a couple days before I picked up my ST, for £250 more than I would have got in a part ex (probably more if the dealer tried to knock money of its value). I could have only got it up to £6000 selling it privately because someone called me after I sold it (it was advertised on a few sites) and said he would have paid up to 6.

I'd be more concerned about Glasses Guide quoting about £900 more than the car will sell for. Maybe We Buy Any Car and similar companies are more trustworthy when buying newer cars in good condition, because they know they can shift them.

There are scrap merchants trailing Gumtree, I sold my X reg Accord without MOT and issue ridden for £200 cash no questions asked, guy turns up, hands over money, loads up car and goes. Any future heap will be going that way

That's the better service and depending on the car it might be the bigger payout!
