Mk2.5 Hid Kit

Featured Replies

There's so many on Ebay, I'm looking at either 5000k or 6000k. Had 6000k kits on other cars. But can't remember if they were 35w or 55w.

So what kits do you have? where did you get them? any extra holders needed? and any pic's?

Thanks :)

I have 6k 35w but would probably go 5k 55w next time, the white light was too white in the snow the other day, I turned my yellow fogs on in the end as the dipped beams were getting dangerous, I also noticed on some road surfaces white doesnt show up so well, since safety is key I think 5k might be a good compromise

Yeah, think both kits I've had have been 6000k 55w. Where's the best place to get them?

I thought this read "Hit Kid" when I glanced at the title

´the cheaper ones are all the same Chinese clones so, its your call, I don't think the colour or distribution of light is as accurate as more expensive ones but for a third of the price, I don't think the cheap ones are that bad to be honest, art least not on projectors that cut off the light fairly cleanly

hids4u

hid direct

xenonshop

are the usual suspects

Medium price seams to be £50-60. Seen these, seem a good price and uk seller and not made in China.

Just which to go for 4300k or 6000k.

I'm not overly happy with 6k, given the choice id have gone for something around 5k, they say 4.3k is oem spec but I think its edging too much on the yellow side for my liking, just watch what's out there, those seem a good price but many of them are Chinese rebranded jobs. I guess what I'm saying it dontt spend much more unless you know the seller is legit

Yeah, 5000k is what I'm after ideally......and like you say, it's hard finding a kit that is good. All the places you listed are nearly £100 plus bulb holder's.

xenonshop is about 30, they don't do 5k though

I'm currently running 5500K HIDs at 55W. Most hid kits are 35w, so when boosted to 55w it washes away alot of the colour i.e 6000K at 55w will be more around the 4500-5k mark.

Thing about the 6000K at 35w is they're a lovely colour, but as Dee said they can be poor for visability in certain conditions. When it rains the higher colour temperature like the 6000k or 8000k will have much of the light absorbed by the rain, which is why manufacturers use 4300K because it's not only the brightest colour, but it doesn't get absorbed by rain and snow as much like the higher colours and is easier on the eyes for driving.

5000K is probably the best compromise, you'll get the brightest and most usable light without that yellow tinge like the 4300k

I got my kit from hids direct but upgraded the bulbs from www.theretrofitsource.com, bulbs are very pricey but are the best on the market!

So would 5000k with 35w be any good, as most companies only seem to sell 35w kits now.

They should be yeah, 4300K is the brightest light so 5000K will be as close as you can get without the yellow tinge.

Most HID kits on the road are 35w so you should have more than enough light with that...I'm running a 55w kit which is about 15% brighter than a 35w kit so there isn't a huge difference.
