Seat Belt And Airbag Light On.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an issue with my 07 Focus, I have scoured the forum for similar issues but can't find any. The Airbag and Seatbelt lights have come on and the seatbelt chimes have stopped, I have read the codes with a OBDII reader and there are non showing. Any ideas or anyone who has had the same fault please help. I do not want to have to take it to the dealer cos I am a tight git.

Cheers.

Try checking the electrical connector blocks where the seats connect to the main wiring loom?

Also have a general look under there to see if you have any damaged wiring or backed out connectors on the multi-plugs.

No idea what your location is but someone may be able to help with the diagnostics side a cheap OBD reader won't tell you anything. If you any where near me I'd happily stick my diagnostics on it for you. As said most times airbag faults can be just down to connectors under the seat, common to a lot of marques. But a dignoatic session would give more info especially airbag resistance values. Also with IDS or even Elmconfig the chimes can be checked in case it has gone screwy although I suspect the two are related if they have both happened at the same time. On my phone so can't see if you have your location in your profile.

With the seatbelt light being on I would say the problem is with the seatbelt pretensioner.

Have you moved your passenger seat by any chance as when I move mine the airbag light comes on as it disturbs the wiring going to the connector under the seat

Hi,

Thanks for those suggestions. Simon I am in worksop notts. I will check all the connections at the weekend. The seats don't get moved cos it is my comuting car so I am usually on my own.

If you are having no luck with it and can get the car over to me I can stick it on IDS for you, best to send me a PM if you want to arrange something. I'm not far from j29.
