Water Leak In Footwell 2007 Fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi all,

this seems to be a common problem, wet carpets in passenger footwell, is there a known cause?

i have searched the net but not found a definite answer....

i have wet carpet and sound proofing in the passenger footwell spreading to the area behind the centre console, i have checked the windscreen, pollen vent cover and all the drainage holes around the bottom of the windscreen.

any advice?

My mate had this on his metal edition.

The problem lies in an awkward place.. If you open your bonnet and stand at either side of the windscreen, he had a leak at the bottom corner of his windscreen under the bonnet. There is quite a deep hole just in front of the drain plastic.

I'll grab a pic of the area if the above is confusing

a picture may help, cheers

only had the car 5/ 6 weeks, bought it from an independent garage, taking it back next week,

but i just want to locate it myself if i can, for future reference.

i paid for most of the car on credit card so if they come it i will hopefully have some come back.

i have had fords in the past and all have had water leaks, thought they would of sorted it by now.. :(

Unfortunately not :( his was a 11 plate I'm sure but to be fair, it was the sealant that wasn't 100%

Only having it a short amount of time gives you a great head start on any nonsense from the dealer.

To the left of the photo is the raised bonnet and to the right is the A pillar. If you get some kitchen roll and place it in the footwell then pour a wee bit of water dyed with food colouring it might show up if it's the same problem.

Could be the heater matrix.

Spent time on the car today, the sound proofing and carpet are wwet in the passenger footwell, up thebulk head but seems to be ok on the drivers side, its also wet behind the centre console, ,

Im contacting the garage tomorrow so we will see what they say..

As for the heater matrix, I'll get it checked, the heater seems fine, blowing nice and hot.

ok, the car is back with me and from what the garage have said, is that water was coming in from the top of the windscreen on the passenger side corner,

they have resealed it and checked other areas as a precaution, so we'll see how we go.
