Hi,

I live in Spain and have a Spanish 2006 Fusion TDCI, but I believe its exactly the same as UK ones, excepting the position of the wheel. I have recently had the cam belt changed, but now all of a sudden there is a dramatic total power loss, all power dies for a couple of seconds then returns. This always happens on the motorway so far, and started a month after cam belt change, so not sure the problem lies there.

I had one other problem, it wouldn't start recently, engine turned over but no combustion. Then the next day it started. I have had the key checked, and dealer reported all was fine. Out here, everyone blames the keys. If you live near a police station, its accepted your car will not start. Don't ask!!!!!!!

I would appreciate any help as dealers in Spain are like something from the 60's in the uk, and I could run up some massive bills with their trial and error ways.

it could be many things causing the power loss, sticking egr valve, cam sensor, crank sensor, contaminated maf sensor,fuel filter the list could go on for ever. without inspection its hard to say. the non start could be caused by a local radio frequency interfering with the immobaliser signal, which is why they wont start around police stations.

I have emptied the tank and filled with fresh diesel from a different station and used STP diesel injector cleaner. So far 50 miles without a problem!!! Keeping my fingers crossed.
