Mk1 Focus Remote Central Locking Not Working

Featured Replies

Have a Mark 1 2005 Focus TDCI Estate.

Recently the remote central locking has packed in. It works on the key, but typical, the key has worn slightly so takes alot of jiggling to open the door.

I only have one key.

Below are what i have tried:

  • Replaced old battery with a duracell battery
  • Turning key from 2 to 1 on the ingition a four times until it beeps, then pressing button on key fob to program it.
  • Pressing the door closed button on the pillar a few times to reset the system, this did nothing.

None of these have made any difference.

Anyone know of what I can try to solve the issue?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

it may be the remote is knackered they are well known for it .to be honest Ide just get a new key and remote for the car

Check eBay get a used or new remote and try that first if it works you just need to get a blade cut and then programmed

Thanks for the advice I had already purcahsed one on ebay, was looking to do a refurb myself of original key.

The remote was the issue, had purcahsed another remote unit for £1 from a scrappy. Managed to code this (using the original key from position 2 to 1 four times in ignition) to the car and works perfectly.

Will be chopping and changing parts between three keys to make a good one.

The other problem I have is that the actual key (metal part) is worn quite badly. Have tried to get a local key cutter to copy to the new one I bouth with no luck.

Have others had this problem, if so how have you overcome it?
