Core Plugs

Featured Replies

hi all , how difficult is it to change the cylinder head core plugs on a 1.6 zetec 2005 , finding water when I tried to change spark plugs.

Solved by 6good

Most times the water between the spark plugs is just rainwater which is leaking between the bonnet and the windscreen washer jets. This is a known problem of the Focus MK2/MK2.5. This problem can be solved by installing new washer jets with improved seals or by resealing the current washer jets.

If there has been water between the spark plugs for a longer period the core plugs may be leaking as a result of corrosion.

A well known problem of a lot of fords between 02-08 :(. Fiesta mk6/6.5 suffer aswell.

Can be solved with either silicone sealant under the factory washers or buy some mist replacements with a rubber seal :)

Also by fitting an engine cover :)

My car has the factory airbox/ engine cover fitted and it doesn't solve the problem. My plugs were rusted into the cylinder head.. They broke and had to be extracted ( what a fun days work that was)

In the end it was washers with a seal that solved it for me

many thanks to all ' discovered that washer housing causing the problem (known issue) core plugs not damaged as I previously thought, purchased upgrade washer jets' now all is well,' with regards to other post concerning water ingress into drivers side footwell , problem was matrix pipe joint leaking , best solution to fix after trying to change o ring and clamp (didn't work) was to bridge joint using a bit of hose, job done.

many thanks again 6good :P
