So my reliable rock splid never have much wrong woth focus 1.8 petrol 04 focus has developed a fault. I had a proper battery check and a replace battery message was shown so I put a nee bosch s4 in an 075 battery bigger and stronger so I was advised at eurocarparts. I had it checked as starting was a issue several times a day. The first start of the day it reguses to start with a turn of the key but if I start it with my foot on gas pedal it fires up. Throughout the day it does this too, sometimesnjust starts or needs gas. I booked it in at the garage and they found no fault. I asked what was checked but the mechanic who did it left that day as it was his last day.

So just wondering if anyone has any ideas what I can check to see whats up ?

ide look at plugs plug gaps then if theres any idling issues to suggest the coil pack or leads

No jerkiness when driving? Also check behind the throttle body there's a hose attached have the car idling and rev it from under the bonnet check the hose for collapse or splits follow the hose to the front of the car there's a pcv valve attached it just pulls out give that a clean if all that fails IDE try the idle control valve it wont show up as a fault takes 10 mins to change solved a similar issue with my old 1.8
