Focus 2002 Failed Heated Seat

Featured Replies

Hi all have read all sorts if threads regarding this and it would appear that it us the bottom pad that has failed the question is has anyone attempted a repair with a universal pad ?

The wiring looks a little different as only a 2 wire circuit is in the universal pad , where as the bottom pad of the oem one is 4 wire.

My thoughts on this are that on the oem pad it would appear the feed passes through the thermostat back out of the pad and then back in through the element in the bottom pad , again passing out and through the second upper pad before picking up its ground to complete the circuit.

So as the pad has the stat built in, in line it should just be a little wiring modification removing the two stat wires ??.

As the stat will still be in place the thermal cut off will still be protecting both circuits i think ?

Parts on the way so going to attempt as nothing to loose but what are your thoughts/ experience in this if any?..... cheers
