Hello, I have 2007 Focus II 1.8 TDCI and it is noisy, specially on rear seats. Is one of the things I would want to know aboute new versions. Are they more silent?

Regards.

Not judging by the OP lol

really depends which car you came from. the MK2 is not the best in road noise but some owners here have fitted sound deadning kits to reduce the road noise, especially at the rear. its something i plan to do this year too

I've got 18" 5 spokes on mine and the only time I notice road noise is when you go from and old to new motorway surfaces the new new new especially on motorways the difference is amazing, most of the time I don't even think about.

Apologies for the last illegible post, here's the correct

The brand/model of tyres fitted has a very large influence on road noise - can't pin it on particular brands but i've noticed differences after changing.

The brand of tyre does play a large part, the harder the compound the louder it will be, get softer tyres and it will be quieter, but you will sacrifice a bit of life in them as they will wear out quicker. I have found that hateful P6000s are noisy, but take years to kill, yet kumhos and Falkens tend to be quieter. I think most tyre review websites have noise ratings now too. I can't say though that it is something that bothers me.

Sent from my Gen 1 WAP phone

The new focus has got 3 times the sound deadening so it really shouldn't be all that noisy even with rubbish tyres I've lifted the carpets and its thick stuff

Hi Thanks for all the feed back.

Does anyone think it it would be worth adding more sound proofing to the rear would help or has anyone tried any extra soundproofing on the a 62reg focus.

Or do i just live with it!!!!

I would like to test the new model.....but for now....I will continue with my 2007.

People in rear seats notice that in high ways (high speed).....and when you talk to them....you have to talk louder

I noticed that in a long trip to Italy with my Family some years ago...

Hi,,, check the parcell shelf, if its not sitting right or has holes in it you tend to get more road noise coming from the rear as the wheels are basically in the boot with not much seporating them.
If you have ever driven with out the hatch back parcell shelf in you will know what i mean.
