Airbag Light After Seat Swap

Featured Replies

I bought a second hand leather interior from a breakers yard (came from a 2009 Focus). I've put the back seats in and on Saturday I fitted the front passenger seat. Last night when I was driving home the airbag light came on. I had the fault code read today and it stated:

B2477 Module Configuration Failure

I'm assuming this was caused by the front passenger seat, but it's odd it took days to show. Could this be caused by using the leather seat pre-tensioner/buckle/seat base?

check you havnt over tightened the screw that holds the fixing to the seat.i had this and found the screw had pulled out and wasnt holding it tight

I put my original passenger seat back into my car and the airbag light has went out. Any ideas?

not really.

this the seat tensioner where you but the seat belt buckle in if you change the tensioner for your old seat to your new one it should fix the problem

I wanted to try this but I couldn't figure out how to remove the tensioner. It's held on with a single bolt but is wired into the connector block. I was hoping it would just be a plastic connector that could be detached, but it seems to be trickier. Any ideas?

they are easy to remove.i had to do it when i put leather recaros in mine.think you need a small pin to get the wire out.they have a small bit to keep them in

A small screwdriver of the watchmaker type will do the job.

You just need to push it between the pin and it's slot to dislocate the hook.

Can this be done from the front of the connector block? It's just that access to the rear of the block at the base of the seat is limited.

Depends on how big the pin slots are.

There is usually more room from the back.

Could you get better access if you take the seat out again?

The front leather seats are back out again. I think I need to draft in someone's help!

Take the car to a decent car electrician.

It will save grey hairs and sleepless nights in the end.

I've got it booked in now to get the interior looked at. Hopefully, the pretensioner swap will work. I'm just worried that the airbags in both seats are different, so might still activate the airbag light. We'll run a live feed from the ignition to the driver's seat to get that working hopefully.

Thanks for your help.
