As per title really, this is new to me and fancy getting my son a decent mobile number of which I have seen plenty around on eBay etc...

Has anyone got any experience in buying a cherished mobile number? Any pitfalls I should watch out for or tips of where to start looking would be great.

I don't believe they are genuine are they? As like number plates you only get a range, so no doubt you will find it hard to get them. Contact your mobile provider and ask them about it as they can probably allocate one reasonably.

They do seem to be a few websites out there…had not thought of contacting my network provider :)

Yeah, these people will sell on behalf of, or will have deals much like Comparison sites but at the end of the day go direct I'd more often cheaper and easier!

Unless there are some records of when these numbers where first used I wouldn't do it, you might find that it gets bombarded with spam calls and texts the moment you start using it. At least you don't have that problem with private plates.

True that, I use false numbers when signing up to something that insists I must have a mobile number, I tend to make one up that could never be used, but I feel sorry if that's a private number owned and operated by someone...

Yeah I've done that before, usually something like 07777 777777 or 07123 456789. Can't see anyone using those.

Yeah I do 07000 000 000 which amuses me, I recently has someone call me Nd that was the called display lol so they are at least going to call a business and harass them lol
