Zetec S Mk2.5 Mpg

Featured Replies

Hi averyone, im new to this site, im thinking of buying a mk2.5 zs but im reading some shocking mpg results from various people, i wont to get a 1.8tdci or 2.0tdci but i only do about 8 miles round trip traveling to work every day, and about 100 miles on the weekend running family about.

I was also thinking about a 1.6 or 1.8 petrol aswell, my curent car is a 15 year old Mondeo zetec 2.0 petrol and am getting roughly 35 mpg combined (never go above 3000 rpm)

What engine would you guys go for? because at the moment my first choice is a Zetec S, and my second choice is a Seat Leon FR550, Realy want to stick with Ford as 99% of my cars have been Fords, my curent Mondy i have owend for the last 9 years.

I will be planning on keeping the car for about the same period as my curent one, so will need to make the right choice.

Thank guys :)

Personally I'd say with that pattern of driving you'd be better off with a petrol. If you get a modern diesel with a DPF it probably won't regenerate properly.

Hi, I have a focus zetec S 1.8 tdci and before I got it remapped I averaged 45mpg ,also the 1.8 doesn't have a DPF filter, which was the main reason why I decided to get the 1.8tdci! However I have had a few issues with it , for example the intercooler pipe split and I have a slight judder at 1800rpm , which I think might be the EGR valve ! But besides from that I love it!

Cheers guys, yeah the 1.8 tdci is my preferred choice, as I know it doesn't have the dpf fitted. Waiting for some other members with petrol engines to reply to get an overall picture of what other drivers are getting.

Just bought an MK2.5 1.8 ZS and im averaging around 34mpg, safe to say i'm not the most economical driver though
