Replacement Rear Tail Light

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new to the FOC so please forgive me if I haven't correctly submitted this. I've been unfortunate enough to suffer a cracked rear near side tail light on my S-Max and haven't a clue how it happened. Perhaps a stone chip (see photo).

The retail price for one of these is an eye-watering £250 (beacuse it's LED I guess) and the cheapest new one I've seen is around £160, from eurocarparts.com

I've looked around eBay and the many online breakers yards but cannot find any second-hand lamps, although there are plenty of the non-LED (pre-2010?) lamps.

My question is, does anyone know why there aren't second-hand ones out there? If there's a good reason for this then I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

Many thanks

to be honest it comes to supply and demand, fortunately (unfortunately for you) there arent too many SMAX's being wiped out and so they dont have the LED units.

To be honest if you want to fix it you will have to pay the premium unfortunately, but keep an eye on ebay, set up a search and alert and you can get one cheaper as soon as it hits the market.

Thanks. That's exactly what I've done. Unfortunately, I think I got an eBay alert this morning and by the time I read it, it was gone! Are there any breakers anyone could recommend? It's stuck up with Halfords lamp tape at the moment which is actually doing not a bad job!

Breaker yard. Com I find pretty good

The strange thing is that there are plenty of the non-LED units available on eBay and online breakers, yet none of the newer units.

The leds being so new are the reason they are harder to get hold of, but try breakeryard, its easy enough to use and will be one of your best bets...

Also might be people looking for the LED units as an upgrade. The led rears for the focus are very heard to find at a decent price too.

The LEDs are a different fit so aren't interchangeable with the pre-facelift S-Max

If anyone is looking for any there is a set on ebay at present @£40

I can only find the pre-2010 (non LED) units on eBay. There are plenty of those but no LED ones.

Ebay id: 151617555381 and thats without looking hard

Thanks for that, I've got an alert setup but with slightly different search parameters. Unfortunately, these are for the tailgate part and I need the rear panel part of the light unit. Good starting price though! Will continue my search...
