Speed Dial Needle Pointer Colours

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just picked up my my 2010 Focus MK2.5 1.8 Zetec with Sport Pack. Loving it so far, but only done about 150 miles.

Has anyone done a modification to the needle pointers in the dashboard. I am looking to change the colour of the needle pointers from the default red to mabe a blue from the 2012 focus for example. images of both attached.

I look forward to a reply and becoming a part of this community :)

Thanks in advance

Harry

Ford Kuga dials are identical to my focus, just just so you see what i mean.

ive thought about buying mk3 clocks just to use the needles, but not sure if they would fit

Is their any point? Sorry for my rudeness but seems like a lot of work for a for needles?

yeah there is a point.i would like blue needles .like other people changing exhausts to get a different sound or leather seats .etc its what we do

Fair comment, I think you would find that if you swapped them out for the mk3 dials the petrol and temp gauge sensors wouldn't fit but don't hold me to that

Yeah, to be fair, the mk3 needles look much better, i found a video online where a guy removed the needles from his VW golf or something and took out the needles.

He scratched the paint off the back of the needles (apparently thats where the colour comes from) and then repainted them (scratched off red and painted blue)

Will look and see if i can find the video again.

Where would one go to find a written off scrapped mk3 anyways? i suppose if the needles are too long one could just make them shorter?

I personally wouldn't want to mess about with my standard needles in case it doesn't work and you need to use them again at a later date!

You check the scrap yard or contact someone on ebay who is breaking a focus down and ask for the needles (may only sell you the whole dials though)

Here is an example of somebody breaking you could drop them an email http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=331456113581&alt=web

Thanks, have sent them an enquiry.

I wonder why there are no ebay sellers selling this as a modification. Maybe i'm the only one interested aha.

I looked further into the breakers possibility and came across a website that offers parts from a large variety of vehicles.

here is a link to an instrument cluster with the dials i was thinking about:

http://www.partshark.co.uk/used-car-parts-breaking-vehicles/ford/focus/mk3%2b%2528c346%2529/parts-page-5/#parts

I'm assuming your referring to the picture below, I think it's going to depend how much you can get the dials for because my guess is they won't take the needles out and the dials themselves won't make it a cheap mod, keep us posted

i was thinking of just taking the needles from the mk3 and put them on my mk2.5

i wish it could be that easy.ours are solid orange .

Are the instrument clusters coded to the cars VIN?

I believe the rest of the "orange" colour are SMD led's, and to change them would require some delicate de/soldering!

On the MK2.5 instrument cluster the needles are illuminated by red SMD LED's. Installing the blue needles of the MK3 will not result in blue illuminated needles. You also have to change the SMD LED's if you want blue illuminated needles.
