That Mk 2.5 Carbon Stereo Trim ......

Featured Replies

Hi all, new the forum, but have been snooping on threads for a long time now :)

I'm looking to replace the stereo in my MK2 Focus (with the big square radio), so I need to get those brackets, screws, and a new Oval trim (going to get one of the Eonon units). I can easily get the standard silver one, but then I saw the carbon type surround ..... and I must have it. Problem is I cant seem to find any part numbers for it, and i know they are rare on eBay too (and people list them under different terms, fascia, facia, trim, surround etc).

Does anyone know the product code for this, or any other colours that are available ? Not really into the wrapping idea, it will never look as good as the real deal :)

You know the one, looks like this :)

The radio surround panel from your picture is wrapped in carbon fiber foil. This is not an original radio surround panel.

Ford used a carbon fiber look radio surround panel for the Focus RS and some versions of the Focus ST. However these panels are very rare and really expensive. Especially the carbon fiber look radio surround panel for manual A/C is very rare.

The carbon fiber look radio surround panel for manual A/C has the following part numbers:

Finis 1547156 Part number 7M51-18522-CBSMIY €386,21.

The carbon fiber look radio surround panel for Electronic Climate Control has the following part numbers:

Finis 1547158 Part number 7M51-18522-DBSMIY €365,96.

Ford also used a grey sort of carbon fiber look radio surround panel for the Focus MK2.5 Titanium versions.

The Titanium radio surround panel for manual A/C has the following part numbers:

Finis 1547155 Part number 7M51-18522-CBSMIX €141,46.

The Titanium radio surround panel for Electronic Climate Control has the following part numbers:

Finis 1547161 Part number 7M51-18522-DBSMIX €180,24.

1539347 is the finis code,

that's stock silver manual ac, beat to the rest!

Finis 1539347 is the number of the standard silver radio surround panel.

Cheers guys, ouch at that retail price .... guess I will have to make do with simple silver one ..... or this one which I found, anyone seen/owned one ?

Finis 1468936 - Black Surround

Looks like this (if the code matches) -

The black one looks like it's a later pre-facelift dash - for 2007 Ford went to the oval radio and red interior LEDs in the pre-facelift models. Got a feeling your photo could even be from an ST going off the ESP button and sporty pedals.

Your first photo is a carbon wrap I'd say too, think you can spot a little crease around the top left corner. UK price I saw for the carbon-look ST part was £260 from Torquesteer.co.uk :o It's a pretty naff look imho, just little light grey square pattern printed onto the panel. You could get ST grilles and diffusers from Stoffler with the same finish applied to the standard Ford parts and a scary mark-up on the price of them!

You could see how much to get one hydro-dipped, the Focus RS500 even had little RS logos on them from some of the press photos I saw.

The black radio surround panel was originally installed into the late Focus MK2 ST (after the interior facelift in 2007).

The black radio surround panel was also installed into the low spec (entry level) versions of the late Focus MK2 and the low spec (entry level) versions of the Focus MK2.5. This low spec (entry level) version (called Ambiente in Europe) is not sold in all European countries. In The Netherlands for example the Ambiente was officially not available despite the brochure did mention the Ambiente.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I think its quicker (and easier) to just go with the standard silver one for now, and keep an eye out on eBay in the off chance a carbon type one ever appears. Will post pics of when I finally get the full lot installed :)

I used to have a standard silver interior trim....ive tried painting, hydro-dipping, all sorts and then found a shop near me that sells good quality wrap. So I gave it a try.....and messed it up by rushing it.

Tried it again and took my time. Used a heat gun to make it nice and stretchy and i was mega impressed with the results.

This is the actual wrap I used - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4D-CARBON-FIBRE-GLOSSY-TEXTURED-VINYL-SHEET-STICKER-AIR-FREE-BUBBLE-CAR-WRAP-/230971220378?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item35c6f5219a

And here is the finished article.....

All you need is the wrap and a good quality craft knife. Don't overlap the edges and use plenty of heat and stretch a little bit at a time so that you don't split the wrap.

I have some spare that would be enough to do that stereo surround. I'd be more than happy to do it for you if you wanted to chuck it in the post.

That does look really nice ! Really appreciate the offer too, i saw you mentioned hydro dipping so i got all curious and started looking up YouTube videos of it, and I am gobsmacked by the results, i may end up giving it a try myself :)

Thanks for the help everyone :)

Hydrodipping is hard work....especially with anything with holes in it.

Good luck with whatever you end up trying
