Headlight Brightness On 58 Plate C Max

Featured Replies

As it nears a year of owning the cmax, I am still amazed at how much I have enjoyed it compared to my BMW!

I long to keep it but the headlights are driving me bonkers! I bought a set of the Philips xtreme vision but there is nothing xtreme about them! I dont have the greatest eye sight in the dark I have to admit but these are terrible!

Other than hitting the illegal 100w I am struggling here and dont want to waste a fortune buying and trying bulbs out?

Any ideas guys?

The best legal bulbs for brightness are probably Osram Nightbreakers. I have them for my full beam and fogs, and they are great, much brighter than standard.

Also your dipped beam might be dipped too low, which was the case with my current and previous car, so you might want to take it to a garage and get them to adjust the dipped beam higher if they can legally do that.

If you want to spend money on it buy a set of hid headlamps and convert it to get the best out of the car.

I was going to get the night busters but having had such a disaster with the bright ones opted to go illegal but I have a feeling the headlights may be slightly too low as well. Will have to get a garage to take a look I guess.

Do you have any links for the HID? I have tried looking in to that but not got anywhere?

I'd second to the Osram night breakers much better than normal bulbs.

these are the kits, but you also need:

you can then buy the headlamps from Ford, and hopefully the fitting of the HID with the headlamps that are marked for it should give you the legal option.
