New Fiesta Owner

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just thought id come on here and say my usual greetings when I go on new forums. My names Matthew as you've probably guessed by my username lol. Im 24 and from south wales area so if theres any fellow Welshman or ladies then hello, hows the sheep up by yourselves? haha Just messing :D

So will be picking up my first ever new car at early to mid march. Its going to be a Red Edition fiesta. Its going to be replacing my current 1.8 5dr 08 Plate Astra, to anyone that knocks Vauxhalls, had it 6 years aint put a foot wrong......( I love you astra don't break down!!) Anyway when I saw the red edition was producing the same horsepower as my 4 cylinder 1.8 but doing 60 ish mpg I had to go test drive one with the engine, now albeit it was the titanium with I believe 99bhp? But it was pretty good so I have high expectations for the 140ps version.

If anyone has any recommendations on what to watch out for with ownership of these little new ecoboost engines the please share your knowledge as Im like a sponge at the moment and will suck it all in.....probably 75% anyway

Ok that was a longer hello than I was aiming for but yeah in short, Matthew, red edition fiesta, suck knowledge....ish :D

Welcome mate, hope you enjoy the new car they look smart but don't expect 60 mpg sorry!

Nah i know i wont get near the laboratory mpg figures but if i get 50 then ill be happy :) And thanks for the welcome

Welcome to forums :) as said above your not going to get 60mpg. Maybe 50 if you drive sensibly but that will go out the window from the first time you put your foot down lol.

Yeah as said above i don't think ill get 60 but 45-50 ill be happy with and also big saving on tax too. On the astra its £205 a year so itll be nice only having to pay 20 or 30 instead

It's free isn't it? Was free on my ZS 125

Free for first year yeah

Ah I see.. only had it 9 months

How's it like every day pal? I'm really looking forward to mine like I said its my first new car I've had about 5 second hand ones but never new till now

I loved it. Loads of power when you need it.. just not quite enough for me hence the upgrade to ST.

Not driven the 140ps but it's meant to be noticeably faster than the 125 and I bet quite a bit faster than your old astra.

It has the same 0-60 as my astra but that might be due to gearing but from a rolling start it would probably leave my astra for dead. I am curious though, the previous zetec s 1.6 when that was modified by mountune it had 140ps but 0-60 of 7.9 seconds, where has this fiesta lost 1.1 seconds from?

Ah I see.. only had it 9 months

That sounds like a privilege job ;)
