Focus Titanium New Buyer Question

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I've recently been looking to buy a Ford Direct, Focus Titanium X with nav. I have been into two dealers now and I've come away feeling quite confused because I went into the dealer with a few cars in mind from the ford direct website, but one dealer basically said that he couldn't sell them to me for the price on the website (!?) so I walked away and the other dealer said that although they are listed as Titanium Navigator X, they are actually just the Titanium x without nav and then proceeded to try and get me to buy other cars which I wasn't interested in.

I've got a printout of the Ford Etis for one of the cars listed as a titanium navigator X and on the features list the dealer pointed out that it says "less navigation system". I pointed out that further down it says "branded icp with navigation" and they explaind that away in a way that convinced me at the time but now I'm thinking twice.

So I have a few questions;

Does branded icp with navigation mean that the car has nav?

Does the titanium x just come with nav as standard? (I have a sales brochure which doesn't appear to list a non-navigator titanium)

If it says Titanium Navigator x on ford direct website but not on their system at the dealers, is there a sure fire way of knowing if the car is actually an X with nav? Can I search Etis with a reg?

This is one of the cars I talked to the dealer about which I was told did not have navigation:

Thanks for any advice.

Rob

The ad states the car has Sony navigation ? Yes you can input a reg' number into etis.

Rob, Hi can't answer all your questions above but looking at the car you have linked it's just a titanium x and does not include nav, not sure why it's labeled as a navigator! Navigation was always an additional cost option on all models but in late 2012/early 2013 they introduced the navigation models which had the nav as standard.

Thanks for the replies.

So I just figured out how to search the reg on Etis and the car I linked above also states "Branded ICP With Navigation" on the features list.

So I'm still confused. I have a brochure from March 2014 which states that all titaniums feature nav as standard, the car I linked above was registered in June 2014 and is listed as with nav on the website and mentions nav on etis...but on the other hand, all the titanium x navigators I find on ford direct do not appear to actually hav nav according to my dealer. In fact, when he searches for navigator on his system, nothing comes up. So either, that's correct, they are very rare and ford direct has listed them incorrectly, or the system is messed up and is listing all "titanium x navigator" models as just "titanium x" with no mention of nav.

I noticed something similar when i ordered mine, if you look on this site - http://www.buyanewcaronline.co.uk/ford/focus/focus-hatchback/1.0-ecoboost-125-titanium-x-navigation-5dr/

You can see they differentiate the two models as a normal titanium x and a navigation version, When i asked what the difference was, I was told its this feature -

  • SYNC 2 nav system

Which you can see in the features list of the nav one and not the other one. I assume this feature is a sat nav anyway.

Thanks for the response dalinair.

I believe that on the model I'm looking at (ie. the 2014 model), the sync 2 nav system isn't even an option...that's the new system only available in the new 2015 model.

Does sound like its got nav, got mfd nav screen, and navigation data western europe on the list along with icp with nav.

Anyone know what icp means in the branded icp with navigation?

Intercom Profile ? Something to do with Bluetooth ?

Thanks for the response dalinair.

Ah right sorry about that then!

Just checked 2 other titainum navigator cars of simular age on autotrader against etis using reg numbers and both come back with same features as the one your looking at, less navigation etc with icp nav. Mfd nav

hi,,, clicked on your link and at the bottom of the page there are the cars spec's

if you click on the + sign for "interior in car entertainment features" in there it states this and has a green tick in the standard box meaning yes.,,,

so i presume it has it.

Sony branded navigation system with Rear View Camera, DAB, 4.2" TFT
multi-functional display, 9 speakers, AUX and USB connectivity

^^ That's what I said ! ^^

Yup, ad states that stuff but dealers disagree with the ad.

The first disagrees with the price, the second with the specs.

Not sure if it's just some odd sales tactic and they are just trying it on - maybe the profit on Ford direct cars is small so they try and put me off and instead shift focus on cars they have on the forecourt.

Try another ford dealer, for a 3rd go.

I'm going to try another dealer. Luckily there are plenty about.

I just want to go armed with all the facts.
