Instrument Cluster Clocks

Featured Replies

Currently I'm changing my car in a few days getting a Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Ghia. As the Ghia has the regular instrument cluster I'm looking to upgrading to the Titanium cluster with the digital display. I found one from a 1.8 TDCI, would this work correctly with the 2.0 TDCI does anyone know?...I presume it would?

Again my girlfriend has a 2006 Focus 1.4 petrol and I'm looking to upgrade her instrument cluster from the basic green clocks to the newer prefacelift clocks 2007/08 with the white and red display. I found from a local brokers but again it's from a 1.6 petrol not a 1.4.

I'm aware that you couldn't interchange ones from petrol and diesel models but can you with same fuel models just different litres?

Thanks

that should be fine, as long as its not from an auto / manual when your cars the other. And same for petrol or diesel, you need to buy the right one not the other!

Otherwise it should work, but you will of course need to make sure you update it as necessary. And you will also need to get IDS or an auto locksmith to come out and pair the key to the new cluster...

Sorry to derail the thread slightly. I too have been thinking of upgrading the level 2 instrument cluster clocks in my MK2.5 Zetec 1.8 petrol to the level 3 instrument cluster clocks with the larger LCD screen that came in models with the nav unit fitted. I've been unable to find a lot of information how to do this. I'd imagine it won't be a straight swap due to the PATS system and the mileage etc.

Currently all I know of is that you need IDS and FoCom? to reprogram the keys to the new clocks, is that all that needs to be done? How have people managed to correct the mileage on the new clocks to match their car? I did hear that it's only possible with instrument clusters that have low mileage on them and the mileage can only be written upwards once or something. This would be a problem for me as my car has only done over 10K miles.

I have read around a few people on here have managed to do all of this but there isn't much information how.

Please correct me anywhere if I'm wrong.

Actually good point, I forget to mention about changing between manuel and automatic versions.

I was always of the impression that in order to get the new instrument cluster to work correctly that it would need to be recoded and their could be an issue with the immobiliser as well.

From the limited information I did find out on doing this, I came across on another Ford forum where people have said that they have changed from the regular cluster to the Titanium one without having to get any of this done, just a simple plug'n'play to my suprise. The only issue being obviously that the mileage wouldn't be correct.

Have a search on donedeal and there is loads of people advertising the service of "fixing the mileage" which could do it for you (although most of the people doing this will just simply be getting their car clocked).

Here's the link I came across where a few had done this mod:

I don't know how the mods on here will feel about me posting a link to another forum so feel free to remove it if there's a problem

If you have more mileage than the other cluster then you can use elm config for the mileage.

So it's possible to change the mileage up but not possible to change it down...good to know before I get one!

Other thing is on my girlfriends Focus she has the LX model which is fitted with the intrument cluster without the on board computer. If I fit one from a 2007/08 Focus it still won't have the button on the stalk to browse the mpg, distance until empty etc. Is it possibl to retrofit this or would it be more hassle than it's worth?

Indeed it is possible, just get the extra stalk replace and connect and you should have most the basics, granted low washer etc won't likely work as it will miss the sensor, but it should help you.

Brilliant, thanks for the advice!
