Mk2 2006 Focus Sport 1.6 Tdci New Buyer Help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am going to look at a focus tomorrow.

It's a 2006 mk2 focus sport 1.6tdci engine.

Has 102,000 miles on it but looks quite clean.

Is there anything to look out for?

I am concerned buying a small Diesel engine with such a mileage but are these pretty reliable? Is this mileage something I should be worried about?

Any help or advice would be great thanks.

Kev.

I bought a diesel with the same mileage last year and have had no issues.

Does it have a full service history?

If not, I'd avoid.

Any receipts with the car; has it had a new clutch or turbo?

I think there is very little. The owner doesn't seem exactly like a car enthusiast. It's like getting blood out a stone with them. I'll take it for a run anyways, but I am unsure.

There is a really good one but it's about 300miles away. If I am willing to travel I could pick it up but this one is in my town, half a mile down the road.

Could be looking up train timetables...

dpf, injector leak, turbo, oil pickup filter, timing belt, fuel filter

all things you need to keep in mind with this engine. most very expensive to sort out if they go wrong

you really want know if the timing belt done and how many miles its been driven between services.

many of those things above contribute to the dreaded turbo failure this engine can have if left to its own devices and not given tlc

What's the price ?
