I donated this afternoon and the paper put me through to the vets themselves where they took the card payment over the phone. I hope the money is raised

Such a shame both the car driver didn't stop and the owner of the dog wasn't insured :(

Don't bother,

Wife is a vet, people do this all the time without insurance, the Vet still fixes the animal and hands the animal back as they cannot care for it and they just bill the owner afterwards and chase and chase them and eventually create a payment plan or write if off, her place has hundreds of people who owe them money.

they aren't going to kill the dog over non payment or give it to someone else to look after, things like this are just a scam I'm sorry.

That thought occurred to me and as you rightly say, its not like the dog will be harmed for lack of payment. However, we recently lost one of our dogs to cancer so the story caught me at a good time in that sense and the event itself sounded very upsetting from what the witness said.

I didn't donate a lot at all and I won't lose any sleep over it even if the owner appeared in the paper bragging about it lol
