i wouldnt listen to the guide line, as my cam belt wen at 70000 miles and i had to have a completely new engine in my st170,

i rang ford about this saying about the guide of 10yrs or 100k and they said it is a rough guideline>

!Removed! is what they told yopu every ford mechanic will tell you 10yrs or 100k on all zetec models rtthats a fact so if its a rough guide ford mechs shouldnt be saying 10yrs or 100k but we recommend that its 10yr or 100k however its worth doing it earlier yet none do its also in every manual as that as well so its a fact not a rough guide

i'd get it change at about 75000 miles to be safe m8, came to do mine the other day and the tensioner had pretty much failed there was loads of slack in the belt, am lucky it didn't slip. Its only done 81,000 miles, is only a 1.6 but they give the same replacement intervals.

no i was just meaning every ford site and mechanic haynes manual every launch brochure etc states 10 years or 100k so its not really an estimate if thats what fords telling every one vw had the same issue they changed the renewal of the belt to 60k as a result due to premature failures of the tensioners and had to repair those that broke early so how ford get away with it ill never know
