Piece Of Painted Tape By Rear Of Side Skirt On Zetec Sport

Hi all,

Just looking at my car and noticed what only be described as a piece of painted tape between the side skirt and arch of wheel on both sides of the car. It's shaped as though it's meant to be there and it colour matches the car, just interested if any one else's has it or just mine. Stuff like this bugs me I'm afraid.

    Is it tape or actually a section of clear plastic?

    Seen these used now and then as bodywork protection in areas which are maybe more prone to stone chips.
