Interior Lights Not Working

Featured Replies

Hi, My first post here, and I'm need of help with my 2005 mkII focus its a 1.8tdci ghia. A few months back all interior lights stopped working, front, back , vanity, boot as well as the fuel low warning beep (but not the light on the dash) also the auto dim on the rear view mirror. I thought it would be the fuses, Ive got my friend here now to look at the fuses but all seem to be fine.

If anyone has any idea what it could be I would be very grateful. Ive not got the cash to take it back to the dealer having recently spent a fortune on it

new brake pads and discs, new suspension springs on the front, new intercooler pipes, new clutch and flywheel.

And theres more problems, but ill save that for another day.

Thanks in advance

Try checking connections are all secure into the GEM/fusebox which lives behind the glovebox, but looking at what isn't working I'd suggest a problem with the Battery Saver relay, or hopefully it's fuse.

Would still be worth checking the fuse for that - on facelift it is F104, 10A labelled in handbook as Battery Saver, Interior Lights.

The relay itself isn't a serviceable item as far as I know, most of the relays in the GEM module are hard-wired rather than being plug in type.

Hi, thanks for the info. I have some spare fuses I might replace that fuse anyway. Do you have any idea where the battery saver relay is located? Ive noticed after the car has been running for a while When I turn off the engine I hear a rapid clicking noise coming from behind the dashboard maybe 5-6 clicks then it stops, I suppose it could be the faulty relay ??

I think the noise you can hear behind the dash could be the HVAC unit shutting down, any noise from the battery saver relay would come from the glovebox area.

It's very likely the relay is part of the module behind the glovebox and not a part you can remove in order to replace it.
