Lost Petrol Cap

I've stupidly lost the petrol cap for my 2007 Focus. Must have left it on the roof or something when I last filled up and drove off.

I understand that without a petrol cap the check engine light usually comes on, however mine hasn't after about a week of driving (150+ miles). Could there be a reason for this or does it not come on with the Mk2 models?

If I can't find it at the garage I last used I'm sure I can source another. Just wondered if the check engine light was suppose to come on.
