Help Identifying Part Please

Featured Replies

Hi all. First post and I'm asking for help to identify something. I have a Focus Mk2 2005. What is it that is attached to the left hand side of the battery box? It is covered with plastic cowling. Please see the attached photo. The reason I'm asking is I am having engine system warnings but this only happens after it rains. I think rain water maybe dripping through the washer jets which are directly above this and is finding its way into whatever it is that's next to the battery causing a false warning. I'm assuming it is an ECU.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

From the photo I think it could well be the ECU - especially if it's a module about 6"-8" square.

You could try putting a temporary shield over the connector/wiring and see if the problem still occurs the next time it rains. Also I think there was an update of some sort with the washer jets having a better seal to stop this sort of issue?

Thanks for the reply Troy. Yes, it is about 6" square and I agree it probably is the E.C.U. I've temporarily used an old rubber car mat to cover the area. Hopefully there will be no more problems with water getting in.
