Hi Everyone!

Featured Replies

Hi there,, im new here and also new to fords,,, well thats not me,,, i join today with hope to find some help for my brother who has just become the owner of a 52 plate fiesta 1.4 zetec.

He only bought the car this weekend just past but have already noticed a massive problem with rust, the drivers side sill and rear arch both suffer from the dreaded badness,, he viewed the car in the rain and didnt get a decent look underneath (schoolboy mistake eh), the rear of the sill just before the arch is pretty much rusted through, the rest of the sill just seems to suffer from stone chips.

Does anyone have any idea is this could be sorted? Or has he just wasted his money, as i understand it the affected area could be cut away and the sill replaced, is that true, if so what sort of money does that normally cost?

Thank you in advance!

Hi welcome :)

yes sills can be repaired

thank you.

I would say it may be cheaper to buy a replacement panel then get it resprayed your colour and fit yourself to save labour charges.

I had a rusted arch on my old fiesta I got quoted £495 to sort the job but I saved around £200 buying a panel.

Your best option may be to buy a new 2nd hand skirt and get it resprayed plus fit it yourself that's the cheaper option.
