SimonSimps
Someone hit our car last night and did not leave any details. Does anyone have any idea on price to fix this please. Would it be filled or is it a new rear quarter panel do you think. My misses is on my insurance and we have a £450 excess :( so will probably get it fixed without using the insurance depending on price. Any information would be great cheers. artscot79
That's a structure area double skinned honestly they will likely write it off a body shop may not touch it as its double skinned and hard to get into
coldic
Mate I really feel sorry for you....hate it when this happens. We had a Merc that was hit in a supermarket car park by a woman that had no insurance and she caused £1700 worth of damage...she was fined £150. The car was repaired but it cost us the excess and the increase in premiums. Hope it works out for you
John2015
Hi had the same bump as you have they pulled it out took 3 days to do and costed 400 to do and it looks great sorry to hear about that Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
artscot79
It depends what's underneath is any damage to the rear suspension the main area is double skinned and reinforced if that's bent on the inside then its a lot of work add in the paint for the whole rear quarter....ide call the police and have it reported to start with and i would inform the insurance you can pull a bit of it but the way the panels creased it will take an expert to do it even then it'll need repainted maybe filled.let the cops know then have a body shop look at it and get a cost then take it from there
MONDEO TXS 2.2
I think that can be pulled out using the right specialist kit
Bailes90
ah that sucks dude, I recently caught a car while reversing out at the top of my road, I told the bloke he went through insurance and I have lost all my no claims bonus and have to announce a claim on my policy even though im not claiming and my insurance went from 500 quid to 1200 quid, a lot I know if only I didn't tell them..... but if the shoe was on the other foot id be the same
DavyCookie
It all depends on how stretched the panel is, if it's not too bad, a skilled body man could weld to it, pull it out, isopon and spray it, in saying that, the body lines would never be perfect, but a job like that could cost around £500? Where as a quarter panel (baisically as perfect as you can get) can cost anywhere from £900-1800. I can also more or less guarantee the insurance would write the car off Sorry to hear about that mate, but hope this helps
Guest
If only it was just knocked in! It's that horrible crease behind the dent that's the problem, insurance Write off. However, it's already been said it will repair but won't be pretty. I had a cat D Peugeot similar quarter panel damage it never looked good after a year the filler sank a little and it looked awful. I hate it when lowlife just drive off and leave you to pick up the pieces, At least you can drive it to some body shops and get quotes. I was in the trade for 12 years a quarter panel usually wrote off anything over 4/5 years old, they usually end up staying on the road one way or another though. SimonSimps
Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like it is going to be a bit of a pain then. I will be taking it to a few places next week to get some quotes and opinions. We live on a low traffic road, not many people come down so it must be a local person. Vans come down to pick up blokes for work in the morning but I have been up early the last few days and surprise surprise no vans have been coming down now. Very annoying that we have to pay for someone else's accident but that's life I suppose.
artscot79
I hope you informed police and insurance if the damage is worse than you think or the cost too high they will wonder why you didn't call them and may refuse to pay out as said it all depends on the inside of the panel if any rear structure is bent then it could be bad ......looking at it its the crease the puller will pull some of it back into place and the rear can pull out but there will be more to it than that the height suggests a van or a 4x4

SimonSimps
Hello there, Yes I have reported it to the police and insurance. The police never even came round just gave me a crime number over the phone. The insurance people are sending out some paperwork. My dad has a transit van and today I reversed down to the front of his van and the shape and height are a very good match with the van.
