* Fiesta Mk7 Replacement Drivers Mirror

Featured Replies

Hi

I previously started a thread about my damaged Mk7 door mirror under the heading of "Fiesta Mk7 - Damaged Driver Door Mirror Cost" and after searching around various websites such as fordparts online, I've just come across this one and I would like to know if any members have used their services before.

fordwingmirror.co.uk

As the name suggests, they deal with Ford wing mirrors and associated parts and they have all of the parts for my damaged mirror but, the complete RH heated, folding and wired mirror with primed back covers costs just £69.95 including FREE delivery.

Compared to Ford's inflated prices, for £69.99, this seems a great price but before I buy, I'd like to know if any other members have used this site for parts and, if so, is it recommended?

If the answer is yes, then I know that to fit it, the door card needs to come of but, I want to get it right without damaging anything so I'm looking for the guide please.

I posted a couple of weeks ago that my daughters 'right hand' mirror had been damaged (kicked) and I checked out ford parts online but the complete mirror works out quite expensive but, another member put up a link for www.fordwingmirror.co.uk.

They are selling the complete RH primed, electric, heated, indicator and power folding mirror for £69.99 with FREE postage and this seems like a great deal but, I would like to know if any of our members has bought a Fiesta mirror from them and if so, can this online seller be recommended?

I would think that they are not genuine parts for that price?

Definitely not genuine parts although for the price it seems okay! As long as it's the right colour match, nothing else can really be made wrong and should look as good as genuine parts

I didn't have to remove the door card. Remove the rubber grommet behind the mirror, remove the bolt or bolts, pull the cable through and disconnect the plug. Pull through the hole and remove. Feed the cable through the hole from the outside, connect plug, refix the bolts, and replace grommet. Put kettle on. Ten minutes max.

Thanks Karl(?)

That seems like a real easy job so I think I'm going to order the complete mirror tomorrow.

Update! The replacement mirror arrived today and although it's not genuine Ford, it does look the part but, the base, where it is mounted onto the drivers door, has the wiring loom coming from it and appears to only have one main threaded stud that pokes out from the base and some shorter studs but I'm not quite sure what they are. The base also has a thick foam like seal pushed over the loom and stud(s)

I've just viewed iNaths You Tube video on replacing a complete door mirror and Karl46 (above) stated that you don't need to remove the door card, it looks like the wiring loom (with grommet around the cable) comes out of the mirror base and goes between the two panels of the door and is then poked through the inner panel and then connected to the wiring connector on the inner side of the inner door panel.

So, my question is, if you don't remove the door card, how can you disconnect the mirror wiring loom from the connector that's on the inner side of the inner door panel?

The screw(s) that hold the mirror and door handle in place look like 'torx screws', does anyone know what size torx are needed?

Update! I've replaced the complete offside mirror of my daughters 2010 Mk7 Fiesta Zetec and it works just fine - mirror up/down, out/in, folds out/in and heats so I gave it back to her and she was very happy to have a drivers mirror back.

The following day she called to say that when she tried to lower the window when entering a car park, the window would only lower about two thirds of the way down?

I'm guessing that the glass is being stopped from lowering by something between the door card but I don't know what?

I was very careful not to pull on any cables when I removed the door card and rested it on the floor was sure that I connected the cable block back onto the window switch so, it looks like I'll need to check behind the door card to see what's wrong.
