Installing Aux Questions.

Featured Replies

Hi I'm collecting the Ford part 6124616 aux connector kit tomorrow for my 55 plate Focus mk2. I've already had the glovebox out and it seems my car doesn't even have the hidden wiring behind there I only found a 6 pin connector which I guess is for fitting passenger airbag switch.

This is ok as I'll connect directly to the stereo and then I've just got to figure out where and how is best to put it and hide the wire as best I can.

Any ideas on placement of the port? I've pulled out the blank next to my windscreen heater switch and there is a connector behind here im guessing it doesn't do anything but wondering if I should fit the AUX part into one of these blanks?

I'll attach some pics of what I found I'm quite new to this sort of stuff.

Looks nice but what functionality does the USB port provide? Is it simply for charging? And how come it comes off as a mini USB what does that end attach to?

The usb does nothing on my setup, but there is a guide on here somewhere to turn it into a usb charging port.

Thanks for the info it's a prettier solution i suppose even without the USB being functional as it slots in quite nicely!

As stated, the usb is designed to run off something like an Eonon after market radio which has a mini usb connector on it.

As per my guide, there is a 3.5 socket on the rear of that interface panel so rather than buy the standard Ford aux kit (not much cop anyway) which involves drilling a hole in the glovebox just buy a cable with a 3.5 plug on the end-

Including pulling the radio forward and running the wire I reckon it will take 20-30 minutes tops to fit.

BTW, the plug behind the far left blanking plate is for the passenger airbag deactivation warning light, basically the other end of the other cable in the glovebox you also found.

It can be safely left to dangle behind the dash.
