What Mk And Oil?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, can someone on here do me a big favour and please tell me what MK my car is? I've read a lot of threads on here where people are saying about their cars being MK1's, MK2's or MK3's and I've been wondering what mine is for a while now! Not to sound thick but I don't even know what MK stands for? I'm guessing it's 'Mark' or something? My car is a Ford Focus 1.6 registered July 2011. Please someone put me out of my misery! lol

Also I'd like to know if Fully or Part Synthetic oil is best? Is it better to get the more expensive makes such as Castrol or what? I know the oil I need is 5W 30 but just unsure which to get out of the two.

Many thanks, Ewan.

I think you have a MK3, looking at your profile pic, but it is quite small, so hard to see.

2011 is right around the switch from MK2.5 to MK3, else it would have been easier to say.

The manual should give you a specification that the oil needs to meet.

I think I'm right in saying that it's fully synthetic.

Ford do their own oil. Formula f 5-30 that's fully synthetic and is suitable for most modern fords with the exception of some transit and ka models I think.

If you go on opie oils they can help. You select which car and engine you have and it shows oil that is suitable.

Regards

Adrian

Thankyou

The Ford brand oil is made by Castrol & you can often get good deals on it on ebay etc. Usually a good bit cheaper than the other big name brands.

Yes, yours is a MK3, your car should have fully synthetic look out for 913c spec, either on euro car parts or opie oils, there are quite a few ford main dealers on ebay that sell the oil for £22/£23 including p&p.
