DavyCookie
Although I love my car, I genuinely believe my 75 bhp 1.7 DTI corsa was quicker than my Focus, from the day I bought it 6 months ago, it almost feels like it's not boosting. So, my question is, are all the HDI/1.6TDCI Engines, dead? Or should I be concerned? Also, other than an EGR Blank, what are my options on improving the engines output? Are there injector or turbo alternatives? Cheers
TomsFocus
The Corsa probably was quicker, they're poorly made with cheap thin materials so weigh nothing. :D The 110 Focus isn't exactly quick, but you should feel a torquey pull at the low end of the rev range...but theres not much at all top end which is disappointing really, a 6th gear would've helped drop back into the torque band at higher speeds. I'm trying to get mine remapped but with a DPF safe remap...no-one wants to do it! They're happy to if I remove the DPF but I'm not doing that atm. DavyCookie
My corsa was hit from behind at 40 after I hit the back of someone at like 5, so pure sandwiched and drove on perfectly :) And it's disapointing, was expecting better performance :/ EGR blank in soon haha
TomsFocus
Something satisfying about a Corsa sandwich lol. EGR blank won't give you a performance gain despite wheat people tell you on here, the EGR is closed at full throttle anyway lol. I do agree though, I did buy it knowing it wouldn't be fast, in fact it's the slowest car I've owned for years, but I also expected more, especially top end. It's not even like theres enough MPG to make up for the lack of power. This thread reminded me I took a 30-70 video of the Focus, I do it in most cars I buy to compare them. As far as I know theres nothing wrong with it so you can compare to yours if you like. It was done safely on a private road before anyone complains lol. Full custom map done on the rolling road. I've got EGR blanked, K&N replacement filter, and custom map. Running 134bhp & 318nm torque. Average mpg 50. That's with a lot of town driving. :)
TomsFocus
Yeah I don't have the money for that lol, plus theres no local RR tuning laces, I just want a remote one to flash on myself. Never spent more than £50 on remaps for previous cars and always done them remotely lol. That's a pretty poor average mpg tbh, I was hoping for 60+ with a remap myself. My 180bhp Golf TDi managed it no problem!
JC600
Like I said I haven't been on any long runs yet, just town driving.....plus I can't help booting it now and again lol Was averaging 40-45mpg.
Dee_82
You could just gut that DPF Tom ;) you know you want to!
TomsFocus
Not after paying £200 for it I can't lol. Wish I had originally instead of replacing it though.
