Car Insurance Renewal/best Modified Car Insurers?

Featured Replies

Well its that time of year again and my insurance is due for renewal

My current insurer is Markerstudy through Greenlight

My current policy is £658.50 with a £250 excess

Did a quote on a scummy comparison site and the best quote I got was from elephant and that was £598.90 with a £350 excess.

I then sought out a quote from the rival modified car company Chris Knott and they beat elephants quote bringing it down to £575, again with a £350 excess, this is from the insurer Equity Red Star

Since getting the quote from Knott though, I have received my renewal quote from Greenlight, knocking over 150quid off last years premium bringing it down to £499.35

I told Chris Knott thanks but my current insurer renewal quote is below the £500 mark so I'll have to stay with them.

But now Chris Knott is saying they will be happy to beat my renewal quote and I'm waiting till tomorrow to see what they offer.

Are they likely to be able to beat it by much?

Has anyone else had policies with either Greenlight or Chris Knott?

Who is the best modified car insurer/broker or are they all the same?

Depends on the modifications tbh, I'm with direct line, all mods covered £450pa

Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

The best one is something like bennetts or brentons or something lol just google it, begins with "b" has green logo :)

No-one elses situation or experiences will be relevant to yours.

Wont know until you ring round.

Insurer choices for modified cars seem to be limited for good deals to:

Elephant
Admiral

Sky

Adrian Flux

Prestige

Chris Knott

Brentacre
Aviva
Greenlight

From personal experience, the service of Elephant is shocking and Greenlight is now best!

Adrian Flux are competitive.

Brentacre they're the buggers I was thinking of good one BRawlin :)

Saul

Both mine are insured with Adrian Flux, and all modifications declared. :)

what are you paying?

My renewal is also due and Chris Knott were not able to be it and were not prepared to budge.

They quoted me £850, Admiral (my current insurer for the past 2 years) want £500 so no brainier really.

Prestige Keep Moving also wanted £800 and for an insurer that supposedly guarantee to beat any quote, I was a bit disappointed with them both.

what are you paying?

£400 for the Focus and £120 for the Escort for the year. Both fully comp, all mods declared, and protected ncb. I've got 12 years ncb but that's only on the Focus, as you can only have it on one car. But it will start to build up on the Escort now. :)

Hi,

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Regards,

Dan.

Can't fault your customer service but you were £300 more expensive than my cheapest quote which was a shame as you'd been recommended by family members with classic cars.

I'm with marketstudy through Adrian flux, they are pretty good. What annoys me though is the extra cost with pay monthly...

Same experience here, customer service was fantastic but they were 200.00 pound more expensive than my renewal which was a shame as they promote on here.
