Thermostat Housing Bolts

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Two of the bolts for the thermostat housing on my ford focus (2001 1.6 petrol) has snapped
off; the head part broken off. I have got replacement bolts to replace them. But
can anyone give me advice on how I can remove/extract the two broken ones, it
is tight and difficult area to work on.. so any advice tips would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks in advance.

Ive been there, snapped one of my injector clamps..

there are thread extraction kits available, where you need to drill a hole in the snapped bolt and use the kit to screw it out, something like this: http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/tools-diy/tools-tool-kits/laser-6-piece-screw-extractor-set

or you will need to drill the threads out and tap & die it, which is what i ended up doing by sending it to a workshop closeby specialising in engine refurbishments
