Alloy Wheel Refurb

Featured Replies

Hi

MK3 Focus alloys are needing refurbed as previous owner has badly kerbed them and they look a mess. Just had a quote from local company who will powder coat 4 wheels for a £180 or restore to the original colour which is classed as oem? for £240. Would like a bit of advice on what's the best option. Don't mind paying the higher price if the results are significantly better. Wheels are original colour at the moment, just badly scuffed.

Thanks

shame your the other end of the country, one quite local to me charge £50 a wheel and do a proper job

The Wheel Specialist if you want perfection.

Thats not a bad cost for powder coating , i paid about the same for a set of 18 inch BMW ones a couple of years back . Original colour is ok but have to say i am looking at getting my alloys done in a high power silver soon once i get the bodywork sprayed to get rid of some scratches on each side and bumper.....might be a couple of months before i can do alloys as bodywork will be about £650 :-(

Thanks, think I will go with the powder coating. Place doing the work has a very good reputation so I will give the original finish a miss.

Powder coating is a lot better than just a normal refurb. It will last a lot longer as its a much stronger paint.

I only had one problem a few years back with powder coating and that was when i was pressure washing all the wheels as usual and two of the four began flaking . Took them back and the place couldnt be more apologetic and tried to find the cause but couldnt so redid all four wheels and since then have all remained perfect. Cant recommend the place enough,as i said to the guy doing them who was really upset about what had happened is that these things can happen in life but its how it is dealt with that really counts.

Only downside is we all seem to be able to recommend a good place but its always the case the person needing it is at the other end of the country :-(

Ditto with mark wheel specialist proper job has them do my Range Rover wheels about four years ago still look like new today
